Case IH Launches New Axial-Flow® Combines Designed and Built in China

28.10.2014

Case IH presents its first Axial-Flow® combines designed for the Chinese market and produced at its Harbin manufacturing complex. The biggest of the two models is the most powerful and features the largest grain tank and rigid grain header of locally manufactured combines.

Wuhan, October 28, 2014

Case IH, a brand of CNH Industrial, launched today the Axial-Flow® 4000 Series combines at the China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition (CIAME 2014), held at the Wuhan International Expo Centre, Hubei, China, from the 28th to the 30th of October.

The new combines have been designed to suit the specific needs of Chinese farmers and offer premium comfort, high capacity and the unsurpassed grain quality consistently delivered by Axial-Flow® technology. The two models, Axial-Flow® 4077 and 4088, are produced at the manufacturing complex recently opened in Harbin with global sourcing, providing Chinese farmers and State Farms with locally manufactured first class harvesting solutions.

Luca Biagini, Head of CNH Industrial China, commented: “This is an important step for Case IH, which has a long history in China, where we are in a leading position in the market for combines above 250 hp. We are confident that the new Axial-Flow® 4000 Series combines will give an important contribution to agricultural mechanisation in the Heilongjiang Province, where they are manufactured, and throughout China. We have tested them extensively on different crops with some of our customers in various parts of China and the feedback we have received is extremely positive.”

Powerful performance, high capacity, efficient operation

Axial-Flow® 4077 and 4088 combines run highly fuel efficient FPT Industrial 6.7 litre engines delivering 180 and 210 rated horsepower respectively. The 6-cylinder turbocharged and air-to-air after-cooled engines meet Tier III emissions standards and provide a dependable engine performance in all conditions.

The powerful and efficient engines, together with the large grain tanks – 5000 and 6000 litres respectively - deliver exceptional capacity.

The over the top 4.1 m and 5.0 m unloading augers on the Axial-Flow® 4077 and 4088 respectively ensure fast and precise unloading operations, with a 45 litre/second unloading speed.

Efficient quality threshing in all crops and conditions

The 610 mm diameter Axial-Flow® rotor delivers a consistently high threshing performance in all crops and conditions, without compromising grain and straw quality. The grain-on-grain threshing action limits grain losses in the field and, most importantly, ensures very low grain damage, guaranteeing a high quality harvest, especially in high moisture corn.

The Cross-Flow® cleaning system ensures no air pockets are created so that distribution is even across the full sieve area. Fan speed is adjustable to cater for a wide range of seeds and conditions.

Multiple crop versatility and a choice of headers

The Axial-Flow® 4077 and 4088 combines can be fitted with the locally produced high capacity 2060 Series grain header, available in three widths ranging from 4.57m to 6.10m – the widest rigid header produced in China.

They can also be fitted with the 5500 Series corn headers, also produced at the Harbin manufacturing complex: a 55cm 6-row configuration header, and 65 cm headers in 5- and 6- row configurations. The larger headers are also available with optional stalk choppers, so that Axial-Flow® combines fitted with them harvest the cob and chop the stalks in one pass. Case IH is the only domestic combine manufacturer offering a chopping corn header in China.

In addition, 3.6 m pick-up headers for windrowed crops such as rapeseed and wheat, and 6 m flex auger headers for soy beans are also available for the new Axial-Flow® 4000 Series.

With the change of header and kits, the Axial-Flow® 4000 Series combine can harvest equally well a wide variety of crops, including corn, wheat, rice, soybean, rapeseed and rice, contrary to most locally produced combines that are dedicated to a single crop.

Straw management for a healthy soil

The Axial-Flow® 4077 and 4088 combines also feature an integrated straw chopper for optimized residue performance. The proven horizontal twin disk spreader system evenly distributes the chopped material on the field for optimum integration into the soil.

Best-in-class comfort

Axial-Flow® 4000 Series combines provide the perfect working environment to maximize productivity and minimize fatigue even in the longest working days. The ample 3.74 m2 glass surface offers an unrestricted panoramic view and excellent visibility of the header, the crop flow into the feeder and the unloading auger.

The right hand console integrates many of the combine’s essential controls within easy reach. The A-post monitor provides the key parameters, allowing the operator to perform on-the-go adjustments. The easy to operate multifunction handle groups all the main combine controls for intuitive and productive harvesting operations. The suspended and individually adjustable seat, standard heating and optional A/C, add to the operator’s comfort.

State-of-the-art manufacturing in Harbin

The Axial-Flow® 4000 Series is produced at the new manufacturing complex in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. This is the largest agricultural equipment manufacturing facility in Northeast China and features the latest technology in fabrication, such as the Automated Guided Vehicles used for the assembly, and two state-of-the-art painting facilities. The complex also includes a Customer Centre and the company’s core R&D centre for agricultural equipment in China, with full development and testing capabilities. In addition to the new combine series, the manufacturing plant will manufacture a wide range of product lines: planters, tractors, combine harvesters and corn pickers with their headers, balers and hay tools – a complete line of equipment for the mechanization of the full cycle of corn, wheat, soybean and hay production.
